Help Us Provide Whatever Is Pure to Orphans in Kitale
KENYA
Kenya
In the heart of East Africa, the Shekinah Glory Missions Center in Kitale, Kenya stands as a powerful example of what happens when compassion meets strategic, sustainable action. Founded in 2008, this mission was created to care for orphans and vulnerable children, many of whom would otherwise face a future without stability, education, or opportunity. Kenya is a culturally rich and diverse nation, home to more than 42 tribal languages in addition to English and Kiswahili. While this diversity is a strength, it also reflects the complexity of delivering consistent education and support across different regions and communities.
One of the most pressing challenges in Kenya’s education system is affordability beyond primary school. While access to early education has improved over the years, the cost of schooling increases significantly after eighth grade. Tuition fees, uniforms, boarding costs, books, and exam fees quickly become overwhelming, especially for families already struggling financially or for children who have no family support at all. As a result, many bright and capable students are forced to drop out, cutting short their potential and limiting their future opportunities. For orphans and vulnerable children, this barrier is even more pronounced, often leaving them trapped in a cycle of poverty.
This is where Education Equals Hope plays a critical and transformative role.
Through its partnership with Whatever Is Pure (WIP), a nonprofit organization founded by Traci Slusarski, Education Equals Hope has expanded its reach and deepened its impact in Kenya since December 2016. Together, these organizations have built a comprehensive support system that goes far beyond simply paying school fees, they are creating a sustainable pathway for long-term success.
Education Equals Hope helps by fully funding educational opportunities for children at every stage of their academic journey. This includes covering the cost of primary school, secondary school, and even university-level education for qualifying students. By removing the financial burden, students are able to focus on learning, growing, and preparing for their future without the constant stress of whether they will be forced to drop out.
However, the impact does not stop at tuition. Education Equals Hope also provides essential resources such as school uniforms, textbooks, supplies, and in many cases, safe housing and daily meals through partnerships like the Shekinah Glory Missions Center. This holistic approach ensures that students are not only enrolled in school but are also equipped to succeed. When basic needs are met, academic performance improves, confidence grows, and students are empowered to reach their full potential.
A key differentiator in Education Equals Hope’s model is its commitment to long-term investment in each child. Rather than offering one-time assistance, the organization walks alongside students for years, sometimes decades, guiding them from early childhood through higher education. This continuity is crucial in regions where instability can easily disrupt a child’s progress. By providing consistent support, mentorship, and encouragement, Education Equals Hope helps students stay on track and graduate with the skills needed to enter the workforce or pursue professional careers.
Additionally, the partnership with Whatever Is Pure strengthens community impact by supporting not only individuals but also the broader ecosystem around them. Educated students often return to their communities as leaders, teachers, healthcare workers, and entrepreneurs, creating a ripple effect that extends far beyond the original investment. This is how true transformation happens: one student at a time, multiplied across families and communities.
Today, after more than a decade of dedicated service, the program continues to provide free education to abandoned babies, orphans, and students at every academic level. What began as a mission to care for vulnerable children has grown into a powerful engine for change, one that is breaking generational cycles of poverty and replacing them with opportunity, dignity, and hope.
Education Equals Hope is not just funding education in Kenya, it is building futures. By addressing financial barriers, supporting holistic development, and committing to long-term success, the organization is helping turn hardship into opportunity and potential into achievement.
We do this through scholarship programs:
- to babies who were found abandoned in the bush. Orphan Rescue Baby Program is the monthly sponsorship program of young children who do not have a family.
- for orphans that are now in primary or secondary school. These scholarships help students dream of enrolling in University, with their fees being paid.
- for street kids to be given a chance to be educated
Or
- by providing one healthy meal a day to students through our feeding programs
- purchasing food needs to help orphanages (i.e. seed funds, rental of land for farming for food for our school partners; animal purchases: chickens for eggs, goats and cows)
